Villa Chloe, Nr Fiskardo - Kefalonia
Fiskardo comes alive at night, not to the beat of disco bars, but in a friendly, relaxed cosmopolitan way. The heat of the day subsides to a pleasant warmth and the yachts flying flags of many nations are all safely moored, whilst locals and visitors mingle on the quayside. For a quiet evening in, watching the shadows lengthen and the colour fade from the hills of Ithaka or listening out for the haunting cry of the tiny Scops owl, the poolside terrace is perfect. The days aren’t so bad either in this modern, comfortable villa with lovely views over the trees and water to Odysseus’s fabled kingdom of Ithaka with Lefkada’s dramatic mountains rising to the north.
Once you’ve climbed the stone steps from the driveway to the raised semi-circular terrace and swimming pool there are no more stairs, so this is easy and spacious holiday living on one floor with no arguments about whose room is closest to the pool.
This three bedroom villa has an additional separate shower and toilet, and the master double with its own en suite. The kitchen, living and dining room are open plan, with comfortable furniture and modern fittings complemented by a traditional wooden beamed and lined ceiling. The view from inside the house can only be improved by stepping outside. For shade-lovers there is a delightful pergola, whilst the sun worshippers of the family can relax on comfortable sun loungers by the pool.
Chloe, whose name means “green shoot” is famous as the heroine of one of the few ancient Greek myths with a happy ending. Brought up by shepherds along with her lifelong sweetheart Daphnis, who is kidnapped by pirates but finally returns to his beloved and they live happily ever after. It’s a charming story and very appropriate for this lovely villa.
