Reina Isabel, Las Palmas - Gran Canaria
The Reina Isabel is an older hotel of great charm and style which we are delighted to include in our programme as it offers good value for money, and a location away from more commercial resorts in the south.
ROOMS
All the lovely bedrooms (photo) and delightful Junior Suites have a balcony with views towards the sea, air-conditioning, hairdryer, safe (small charge) and satellite TV. We do not recommend city view rooms as some guests find these noisy. Single rooms are small.
LIVING
The Reina Isabel has all the facilities associated with a city hotel of this category with the additional benefit of being on the seafront at Las Palmas, the largest city in the Canary Islands. The Las Canteras beach is just across the promenade and the hotel provides some sunbeds and umbrellas free for guests. The options for shopping, night life or just strolling and exploring are there for everyone to enjoy.
The main restaurant serves a varied table d’hôte buffet menu for a very reasonable half board supplement. Breakfast is served here too, whilst The Summum (photo below) is one of the best à la carte restaurants on the island. In the latter, the choice is mainly Peruvian and Asian cuisine, complemented by a very good wine list and spectacular views over the sea.
If you get bored with the beach and the sea, take a dip in the pool on the roof (heatable in winter), or have a work-out in the well equipped little gym on the top floor. After this a cocktail or an aperitif in the Fiesta bar is recommended before dinner in the hotel or at one of the many restaurants in town.
Reina Isabel have added a wonderful spa on the roof with a Hammam, a Dead Sea floatation tank, Jacuzzi, sauna (all free) and an excellent selection of à la carte treatments.
We will get you here from the airport by private taxi in about 25 minutes.
Unfortunately there is no disabled access at the Reina Isabel.
