Italy Beyond Summer - Italy
This is a customisable itinerary to provide you with a start point and suggestions for your travel plans. We’ll work closely with you and our travel partner to design your ideal trip, paying close attention to your interests, your travel style and your budget. Our partner’s specialists know the country inside out and can lead you to experiences you won’t find in a guidebook. Day 1 Florence Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Venice. Upon arrival in Venice you will be met by your driver for a private car transfer to your hotel. After settling in, you'll have a panoramic introduction to the city of Florence, seeing an overview of some of the city's top sights with your driver and guide. Day 2 Florence Low season means thinner crowds in some of Italy's most famous and significant museums. This morning you'll have a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery, seeing masterpieces such as Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' and da Vinci's 'The Annunciation'. In the afternoon you'll have skip the line tickets to the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo's 'David'. Day 3 Florence This morning you’ll enjoy a private cooking class with a local professional chef. During the class, you'll cook a traditional Tuscan meal, including making pasta from scratch, which you will then be able to enjoy for lunch. You'll have the afternoon at leisure to explore more of the city. Day 4 Naples Today your private driver will take you to the train station in Florence for your train journey south to Naples. You'll be met at the station by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. This coastal city is quiet in the cooler months, meaning sights like the Naples Archaeological Museum are less busy. You'll have a guided tour of the museum seeing some of the finest archaeological remains in the country including many of the original finds from Pompeii. Day 5 Naples Mild winter temperatures mean that walking tours are possible all year in Naples. Today you'll meet your guide for a private historical walking tour of the city including the Cappella Sansevero, home to Giuseppe's remarkable 'Veiled Christ'. Day 6 Rome Today you'll have a private transfer to the train station for the one-hour train journey to Rome. You're returning north on this trip, which is a good choice in the low season as there are far fewer flight routes out of Naples. On arrival, you'll have a private transfer to your hotel, and this evening you'll take part in a sommelier led wine tasting dinner, sampling wines from across the country. Day 7 Rome This morning you will visit some of Rome's top attractions on a private tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. Day 8 Rome Today step back in time to 80 AD, when Rome's most famous landmark, the Colosseum, was completed. Skip past the lines and enjoy direct entry into the site, where your private guide will explain the significance of the Colosseum during the Roman era. The Forum, the heart of Roman public life, is just next door so you will visit this vast site with your guide afterwards. This afternoon is unguided, providing a good time to travel into the Trastevere district (very close to your hotel) where you’ll find modern-day Romans enjoying an evening aperitivo. Day 9 International return flight You'll have a private transfer to the airport today for your flight home. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
