Le Pigonnet - Aix-en-Provence
A delightful family-owned hotel, Le Pigonnet is an 18th century Provençale country house, surrounded by tranquil gardens yet just 800 metres from the Cours Mirabeau in the centre of the city.
The gardens, with their cypress trees, umbrella pines, fountains and flower-filled borders are beautiful and were an inspiration to Paul Cezanne who sat in a corner and painted his famous work, ‘Montagne Sainte-Victoire’ in 1890. The gastronomic restaurant, ‘La table du Pigonnet’ has an excellent reputation locally; in summer meals can be taken on the terrace. There is a charming lounge with an open fire, a champagne bar and 48 bedrooms decorated in a typical Provençal style. The heated outdoor swimming pool is open from May to October and there is a wellness centre with sauna and hammam.
