Take to the road and see Golden California. Starting in San Francisco, pick up your car and drive to your hotel. The following morning you will be met by your American Tours representative and provided with driving directions, maps, vouchers and brochures of the places you are about to visit. Discover the attractions of the beautiful City by the Bay, San Francisco and enjoy the rolling hills of California’s Wine Country.

Drive south to Monterey along the stunning coast road to Carmel. Continue by Big Sur to San Simeon and then Solvang, a unique town founded by Danish immigrants. Stay overnight in San Luis Obispo. Drive by Malibu and Santa Monica to Los Angeles and if you arrive early, then we suggest a visit to Universal Studios before checking into your hotel. Next there’s a full day for visiting Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom of Disneyland. Or simply discover Hollywood and Beverley Hills. Next, drive east through the Mojave Desert and the ghost town of Calico en-route to the glittering entertainment capital of the world—Las Vegas.

A full day of leisure for you to see one of the world’s greatest natural wonders– the Grand Canyon or visit Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Drive south past Lake Elsinore to the town of Temecula and enjoy some sparkling weather. You have a full day to explore some of San Diego’s attractions such as Balboa Park, Old Town, Sea World or Coronado Beach.

Accommodation is included for all 11 nights and car rental with Gold insurance. The price is based on 2 people sharing a twin/double room, with a compact car for travel in April to June and October to March 2011 flying from Heathrow to San Francisco and returning from Los Angeles to Heathrow, inclusive of all taxes—from £1,051 per person. For travel in July, August or September– from £1,188 per person.
