Holidays in Bermuda, North Caribbean
Bermuda is a group of Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean 600 miles off the coast of North Carolina. There are six main islands and 120 others, which collectively are only 22 square miles of which bridges and causeways join the largest. The close proximity to the United States (New York is only 2 hours away by plane) makes it a great place to go on a two-centre holiday.
The climate in Bermuda is very mild with an average temperature of 20 degrees C, the best time to go is May and June and September to October. The hurricane season is October to November but can sometimes start as early as September.
Bermuda has become a great place to go for water sports including, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and diving, due to the coral reefs and shipwrecks surrounding the islands. The main season for diving is from April to October and several dive companies offer courses for beginners and intermediates. Windsurfing, sailing and yacht charters are also some of the other activities which are very popular. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the World are to be found in Bermuda for example Horseshoe Bay, Tobacco Bay and Elbow Beach. South Shore Park coastal reserve protects some of the best beaches and links several coves and bays by coastal trails.
Several options for getting around Bermuda are available because rental cars are not allowed. Transportation can be by bus, ferry, bicycle or by horse and carriage. Taxi services are available within the main island, however tourists are recommended to hire mopeds( 2 seaters are available).
